The Wright Cup 2009 Competition & Pairs Cup Results

Otmoor Range on Saturday 27th June 2009

Isis was the winning team and Pat Adams and John Winter took the Pairs prize.
A very disappointing entry of only three Clubs. It was a great pity that Bicester did not try to defend the Cup that they won last year and, for the first time, Witney could not raise a team.
The match was shot in blazing hot conditions with light winds and a boiling mirage. Alex Hamilton, using the oldest rifle on the firing point, achieved the best score of 49.3V. Well done all those who took part.
Once again it was shown that the 0.22 Match Rifle shoots well at 200 yards and it would seem the BSA International Mks 2 & 5 still out-shoots the more modern rifles at long range.

Qualifiers for NSRA County Badges

Frank Slade has drawn up a list of all those shooters who qualify for a County Badge. If you have represented the County for two years in a team of Twenty or three years in a Cup Match then you should quality. The badges cost £10 (cheque payable to the ORA). If you think you qualify and might be interested in obtaining a Badge you can download Frank's list of shooters who have represented Oxfordshire over the last three years here.
He has also provided a list of those who have shown an interest in acquiring a Badge and instructions for those who would qualify and like to be added to the list.

The Wright Cup and Long Range Pairs Cup 2008,

held at Otmoor on Saturday the 28th June.

A record five Teams took part in the Match. We welcomed Bicester for the first time and they shot very well to just pip Isis by one point. The match was shot in bright sunshine with a very brisk cross wind that needed close watching. The win by Bicester proved that SB Clubs can compete in this match with no difficulty despite many doubts expressed in the past. The scores were slightly down this year due to the wind. Well done to Pat Adams for making the highest score of 48.6V , a very good effort.

Once again we have shown that the 0.22 Match Rifle shoots well at 200 yards and it would seem the BSA International Mks 2 & 5 still out shoots the more modern rifles at long range.(John Winter Chairman FB Committee)

SUMMER 50m BENCH-REST COMPETITION

Entries are invited for a Summer 50m Bench-Rest Competition 2008.
The competition will consist of 10 rounds at 50m, to be shot in two stages during the 2008 Summer Season. There will be twenty shots at 50m per round on MM12C type cards (or the old three card system if you want to waste money on postage!). The first five rounds to be shot by 30th June 2008, with the remainder completed by 1st September 2008.
Any sights can be used, which includes telescopic sights, and any type of Bench-Rest can be used (please note that the fore-end rest must comply with NSRA rules 8.16 to 8.16.7 and the butt must be supported in shoulder and arms, not on a rest!)
It will be an Individual entry style competition, with competitors divided into two groups after first five rounds to equalise shooters.
The top three in each resulting division will shoot off at the Bicester outdoor range towards end of September (event will be held on same day as Inter County Long Range Match).
The entry fee is just £2.50 per person.

The competition is being organised and run by Trevor Bounds of Witney Rifle Club. You can click here to download a PDF file with more details and an entry form.
This will be a postal competition, with results available on-line from the ORA SB Scores & Results website shortly after the completion of each stage.
